\nnonresident of this state while attending or traveling to or from, an
\norganized competitive pistol match or league competition under auspices
\nof, or approved by, the National Rifle Association and in which he is a
\ncompetitor, within forty-eight hours of such event or by a person who is
\na non-resident of the state while attending or traveling to or from an
\norganized match sanctioned by the International Handgun Metallic
\nSilhouette Association and in which he is a competitor, within
\nforty-eight hours of such event, provided that he has not been
\npreviously convicted of a felony or a crime which, if committed in New
\nYork, would constitute a felony, and further provided that the pistols
\nor revolvers are transported unloaded in a locked opaque container
\ntogether with a copy of the match program, match schedule or match
\nregistration card. Such documentation shall constitute prima facie
\nevidence of exemption, providing that such person also has in his
\npossession a pistol license or firearms registration card issued in
\naccordance with the laws of his place of residence. For purposes of this
\nsubdivision, a person licensed in a jurisdiction which does not
\nauthorize such license by a person who has been previously convicted of
\na felony shall be presumed to have no prior conviction. The
\nsuperintendent of state police shall annually review the laws of
\njurisdictions within the United States and Canada with respect to the
\napplicable requirements for licensing or registration of firearms and
\nshall publish a list of those jurisdictions which prohibit possession of
\na firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony or crimes which
\nif committed in New York state would constitute a felony.<\/p>\n<\/h4>\n
Youth Shooters age 12 to 15 want to shoot rifle or shotgun at our range? 265.20 exemption says you can, if supervised by parent or guardian.<\/span><\/h4>\n
\nof\u00a0 loading\u00a0 and\u00a0 firing, of a rifle or shotgun, the propelling force of
\nwhich is gunpowder by a person under sixteen years of age but not\u00a0 under<\/span>
\n\u00a0 twelve, under the immediate supervision, guidance and instruction of<\/span> (a)
\na\u00a0 duly commissioned officer of the United States army, navy, air force,
\nmarine corps or coast guard, or of the national guard of\u00a0 the\u00a0 state\u00a0 of
\nNew York; or (b) a duly qualified adult citizen of the United States who
\nhas\u00a0 been\u00a0 granted a certificate as an instructor in small arms practice
\nissued by the United States army, navy, air force or marine corps, or by
\nthe adjutant general of this state, or by the national rifle association
\nof America, a not-for-profit corporation duly organized under\u00a0 the\u00a0 laws
\nof\u00a0 this\u00a0 state;\u00a0 or (c) a parent, guardian, or a person over the age of<\/span><\/span>
\n \u00a0 eighteen designated in writing by such parent or guardian who shall have<\/span>
\n a certificate of qualification in responsible hunting, including safety,<\/span>
\n ethics, and landowner relations-hunter relations, issued or\u00a0 honored\u00a0 by<\/span>
\n the\u00a0 department\u00a0 of\u00a0 environmental\u00a0 conservation; or<\/span> (d) an agent of the
\ndepartment of environmental conservation appointed to conduct courses in
\nresponsible\u00a0 hunting\u00a0 practices\u00a0 pursuant\u00a0 to\u00a0 article\u00a0 eleven\u00a0 of\u00a0\u00a0 the
\nenvironmental conservation law.<\/p>\nTwo adults, each licensed with pistol permit, want to shoot each others pistols at our range? 265.20 exemption 7a says you can, when supervised by each other.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\norganized\u00a0 for\u00a0 conservation\u00a0 purposes or to foster proficiency in small
\narms or at a target pistol shooting competition under the auspices of or
\napproved\u00a0 by\u00a0 the\u00a0 national rifle association for the purpose of loading
\nand firing the same, by a person duly licensed to possess\u00a0 a\u00a0 pistol\u00a0 or<\/span>
\n\u00a0 revolver\u00a0 pursuant\u00a0 to\u00a0 section\u00a0 400.00\u00a0 or\u00a0 400.01 of this chapter of a<\/span>
\n\u00a0 pistol or revolver duly so licensed to another person who is present\u00a0 at<\/span>
\n\u00a0 the time.<\/span><\/p>\nPerson A is licensed with NYS pistol permit. Person B has applied for a pistol permit in Chenango County and waiting for the approval process. \ndenied a license, been previously\u00a0 convicted\u00a0 of\u00a0 a\u00a0 felony\u00a0 or\u00a0 serious
\noffense, and who does not appear to be, or pose a threat to be, a danger
\nto\u00a0 himself\u00a0 or\u00a0 to others, and who has been approved for possession and
\nuse herein in accordance with section 400.00 or 400.01 of this\u00a0 chapter;
\nprovided\u00a0 however, that such possession shall be of a pistol or revolver<\/span>
\n\u00a0 duly licensed to and shall be used under the supervision,\u00a0 guidance\u00a0 and<\/span>
\n\u00a0 instruction\u00a0\u00a0 of,\u00a0\u00a0 a\u00a0 person<\/span>\u00a0 specified\u00a0 in\u00a0 paragraph\u00a0 seven\u00a0 of\u00a0 this
\nsubdivision and provided further that such possession and use be\u00a0 within
\nthe\u00a0 jurisdiction of the licensing officer with whom the person has made
\napplication therefor or within the jurisdiction of the superintendent of
\nstate police in the case of a retired sworn member of\u00a0 the\u00a0 division\u00a0 of
\nstate\u00a0 police\u00a0 who has made an application pursuant to section 400.01 of

\npurpose\u00a0 of\u00a0 loading\u00a0 and\u00a0 firing the same by a person at least fourteen<\/span>
\n\u00a0 years of age but under the age of twenty-one<\/span> who has not been previously
\nconvicted of a felony or serious offense, and who does not appear to be,
\nor pose a threat to be, a danger\u00a0 to\u00a0 himself\u00a0 or\u00a0 to\u00a0 others;\u00a0 provided
\nhowever,\u00a0 that\u00a0 such\u00a0 possession\u00a0 shall\u00a0 be of a pistol or revolver duly<\/span>
\n\u00a0 licensed to and shall be used under the immediate supervision,\u00a0 guidance<\/span>
